Urban Label: 3sixteen

Every once in a while a brand comes along that truly exposes that ‘other’ side of street-wear culture. Never mind the flashy colors you too often see on the streets of SoHo, here’s a brand whose clothing embraces a more tempered and refined aura.

Founded in 2003 and currently running out of New York City, 3sixteen is a leading brand in genuine made-for-men apparel. Having recently quit their desk jobs and both without any design experience, the two creators undoubtedly took a risk in pursuing their passion of clothing design. But after a strong start in the graphic tee arena, 3sixteen began to work its way into premium-quality outerwear, selvedge denim and hand-made shoes. A few of 3sixteen’s staple products, shown here, are the hand-made Deck Chukka, unique hand-crafted ties and the t-shirts through which their timeless influence is rooted.

3sixteen’s mission, despite the typical motif for today’s street-wear market, is to provide sustainable every-day-wear for the workingman. The backbone of the label is U.S. based manufacturing: 3sixteen stays local and uses fabrics that are built to last. A street-wear label with an element of class, 3sixteen appeals to a wider demographic of urban fashion enthusiasts.

As the Spring 2010 season approaches you can look forward to more doses of form-fitting 3sixteen menswear. Check out 3sixteen.com to receive information about hidden sales and promotions, but more importantly think about adding some pieces to your wardrobe – it might just bring out the fluxiness in you.
